With a few hiccups along the way, I'm having to play a little bit of catch up with the blog, but here goes nothing~
I’m going on a journey. I have lived at home for the entire 21
years of my life, and now it’s time to explore. My mom has commissioned me to
make a photography book called, “Sweat, Tears, and the Sea” which will be
focused around the quote, “The cure for everything is saltwater; sweat, tears,
or the sea.” I’ll be traveling for 20 days shooting photography on my way to
Jacksonville, FL where I’ll go to school to pursue my Bachelor of Fine Arts. I’ll be
traveling alone and won’t know anyone along the way, which makes for the
ultimate growing experience. As a broke college student, I’ll be traveling as inexpensively
as possible, planning only to spend money on gas and little food (Mom hooked me
up real good on the non-perishable munchies). Roughly, I have 7 destinations
mapped out and will stay for approximately 3 days at each stop, but in reality,
I’m free to stay wherever I want for as long as I want. Some nights I may stay
with a friend of a friend of a friend, others nights I may sleep in my car, or
I may crash with someone from a website called Couch Surfers.
For those that
don’t know, Couch Surfers is a website where you can create a free profile and are able to
explain a little about your life and your goals. You’re then
able to type in whereabouts you’re headed and request to sleep on someone
else’s couch. These people also have a profile, and will respond back to you
saying, “Come on over! I’ve got a spare couch.” or they may decline your
request for various reasons. I haven’t ever used this website before, but since
I’m on a tight budget, this will have to do. Plus, this expands opportunities
to meet new people and explore freely.
Since I am traveling alone, as I previously stated, I will
not be posting the location of where I am or where I’m headed until I’m
finished at each stop for safety reasons (You’re welcome, Daddy).
